Neuromoves Launches in Sydney: Exercise Programs for Neurological Conditions

Spinal Cord injuries Australia – “providing consumer based support to people with physical disabilities” – has launched its NeuroMoves exercise program in Sydney, targeting people with neurological conditions such as acquired brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease or cerebral palsy.

Delivered by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, the aim of Neuromoves is to “decrease the barriers that arise for people with a disability to access quality exercise services – from the most basic of exercise to the highly specialised and intensive options. Our gym and fitness program is also accessible to people with amputation or other physical deficit.”

NeuroMoves Sydney is available in Lidcombe, Zetland, Bankstown, Liverpool, Sutherland, and Penrith.

NeuroMoves’ facilities are fitted with state of the art, wheelchair accessible exercise and rehabilitation equipment that is suitable for people with any level of ability. The programs range from intensive one-on-one therapy to fun group fitness training.

The exercise services offered by NeuroMoves Sydney include:

  • Locomotor Training – body weight supported treadmill walking
  • Activity Based Exercise – intensive task specific exercises to maximise function
  • Functional Electrical Stimulation – electrical pulses to assist movement
  • Gym – group fitness training
